"Death and life are in the power of the tongue, and those who love it will eat its fruits."-Proverbs 18:21

Remember that Monday's are beautiful too, and if you start the week off with a grateful heart, you're more likely to have an amazing week! Your thoughts are the main ingredient of this power, and when you add to the focus and emotions, thoughts become powerful and can affect your reality. The thoughts that pass through your mind are responsible for almost everything that happens in your life. If you don't know I am from Beautiful Beaufort, the Geechie/Gullah people, the direct descendants of enslaved African, we have a rich African culture because of the Charleston Port and the amount of "new" enslaved Africans that came in through the port.  We were able to hold on to the African traditions and culture of our ancestors and we're really special y'all!  I, Pamela Jenkins Booker is ONLY 4 generations removed from slavery.....F O U R!  My father's great-grandfather John Wright was an enslaved African, who got his freedom by fighting for the Union alongside his father Harry Wright in the Revolutionary War.  My Grandmother Rebecca Wright Jenkins, use to tell us to "Mind ya mout and mind how ya speak"  these phrases stayed with me and the older I got the more I understood these words and I say this to my children, in the same dialect in my native tongue!  I know these times are difficult, COVID, virtual learning, not seeing loved ones....BUT if you are reading this you are blessed!

Here are 7 affirmations you can say to yourself every day, speak life!

  • I believe in my dreams. Believe in yourself and all that you are.
  • I am doing my best every day.
  • I love myself for who I am.
  • I am in charge of my own happiness.
  • I accept 100% responsibility for my own life.
  • The best is yet to come.
  • I am grateful for every day.
